Dr. David Engel, Holocaust scholar and author of multiple books on the Holocaust will lecture about the treatment of Jews specifically in Poland during the Holocaust. This presentation will chronicle his research of the Holocaust in Poland, the Polish government-in exile, and the role of complicity versus collaboration versus rescue that occurred in Nazi occupied territories in Eastern Europe. Engel is a Professor of Holocaust Studies & the Chair of Hebrew & Judaic Studies at New York University. Some of his publications include: Historians of the Jews and the Holocaust, Zionism (A Short History of a Big Idea), The Holocaust: The Third Reich and the Jews, Facing a Holocaust: The Polish Government-in-Exile and the Jews, 1943-1945, and numerous research articles, reviews, and writings. Dr. Engel holds a doctorate in history from the University of California, Los Angeles, and completed postdoctoral study at Hebrew University’s Division of Holocaust Studies, Institute for Contemporary Jewry, in Jerusalem.
